What to Expect

Visiting any church for the very first time can be a challenging experience. Where to go? What to wear? What time to show up? What’s here for my family? What can I expect? These and many more questions surface. You can expect your first visit to Joyful Light Baptist will be refreshing, friendly, and enjoyable for your whole family. We want you to experience inspiring music, helpful teaching and preaching, friendly people, and a place where you feel welcome and “at home”! Here are a few answers to your questions and what you might expect on your first visit.

I’m Not a Baptist…Can I Still Attend?

Of course!  It is our desire and prayer that Joyful Light would be a church for everyone that has a desire to know God. You do not have to come from a Baptist background, or hold to any particular religious affiliation to attend services here. We are convinced that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and it is sufficient to point any sincere person to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. If you have a desire to know God and experience His best in your life, we invite you to join us on the journey! If there is any way that we can be of help to you please feel free to let us know.

Where are you Located?

In 2016, Joyful Light purchased seven acres of land on FM 2645 located only five miles North of Hwy 82 in Savoy, TX. Until we begin the construction process of a new facility, our services are being held in the Elizabeth May Community Room at the First United Bank in downtown Bonham, TX. Check out our Location Map .

When are your Services?

On Sunday, we begin Bible Study classes at 10:00 am  followed by our Morning Worship at 11:00 am. Wednesday evening Prayer and Worship begins at 7:00 pm. Check out our Service Times .

What should I expect in the Worship Service?

During our traditional worship service, you will enjoy the beautiful hymns and uplifting sacred music from our orchestra and music specials. The music is always followed by a clear, helpful, and challenging Bible message from Pastor Littrell. This service is a little over one hour in length. Also, before the morning service, there are Bible Study Classes. These classes are smaller group settings where you are invited to meet people and hear a teaching lesson from God’s Word. The best way to get to know people at Joyful Light Baptist Church is to visit one of these Bible classes.

How should I dress?

There is not a dress code at Joyful Light Baptist Church for members or guests. We simply follow the biblical principles of modesty and distinction. Our ministry leaders and many of our church family dress in more traditional “Sunday” dress; however, our main goal is that you would feel welcome and comfortable on your visit here at Joyful Light!

Am I expected to participate in the offering?

No. We don’t invite you to Joyful Light Baptist Church for your offering. We want our service to be a gift to you. It is not our custom to pass an offering plate during our services. We hope you will find in this place a warm family spirit, truth from God’s Word, and a place where you can grow in God’s grace.
